Roker stated that he and his wife follow a "no phones at the table" rule at dinner, saying, "They get left in a basket and that's that."
As for why the couple decided to do this, Roker noted that he believes technology and social media can be a detriment to a person's relationship with food, making it "more difficult" to have a good relationship with eating, as "when it comes to food, it's very hard to multitask."
He added, "So, you could finish a plate of food reading and not realize that you ate... Today, everybody's on their phones and doom scrolling and eating or having snacks and so I think the trick is to try to be more present."

In the same interview with Daily Mail, Roker also shared his thoughts on Ozempic use, taking a very pragmatic stance on the subject.
He declared, "And if that path is one of these drugs and that works for them, great. And if it helps you, if that's the thing that gets you over that point where you're able to be healthier and lead a more active lifestyle, that's great."
Roker's new cookbook Al Roker’s Recipes to Live By: Easy, Memory-Making Family Dishes for Every Occasion was released on Oct. 15, and he has been making the rounds promoting the book and talking about food, eating, weight loss and more.
