Al Roker Speaks on Hoda Kotb's 'Today Show' Absence
Hoda Kotb has been missing from her usual spot on the 'Today' show since late last month.
Al Roker is giving an update on his colleague and good friend Hoda Kotb, who has been noticeably absent from Today in recent weeks.
Following news that Kotb, 58, has been taking time to deal with a "family health matter," Roker, 68, assured fans that the daytime co-host is "doing fine."
"She's going to be just fine," the Today Show weatherman told Page Six at the Hudson River Friends 7th Annual Playground Committee Luncheon on Friday, March 3. "She's dealing with what she's gotta deal with and all will be good."
Kotb hasn't returned live to her usual spot on the show since Feb. 17, prompting fans to grow concerned over where she has been. The TV broadcaster also shared cryptic messages on her social media pages, including a photo that read, "Choose Hope," sparking even more worry among her fans.
It wasn't until co-host Craig Melvin addressed the concern on Wednesday, March 1, letting viewers know that Kotb is doing okay, but has some personal matters to attend to.
"We know a lot of you have been wondering how she is doing," he said. "We can tell you that Hoda is OK. She has got a family health matter that she has been dealing with."
Melvin also mentioned the absence of co-host Savannah Guthrie, who abruptly left the show during the Tuesday, Feb. 28 broadcast before it was revealed that she tested positive for COVID-19.
"We look forward to seeing Hoda and Savannah back here at the desk very, very soon," he added.
Jenna Bush Hager also got fans up to speed on her Hoda & Jenna co-host, saying during Wednesday's episode, "We just want to let you all know that we heard you, and Hoda is OK. She's just got a family health matter that she's been dealing with."
"We adore her, we’re sending our love to her, and she’s going to be back, right here, very, very soon," Hager added.
Here's to hoping Kotb and Guthrie both make a speedy return!
