Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2021
Pragmatic yet elegant are the qualities Alberta Ferretti sought in her pre-fall collection.
The designer, known for her feminine and chic evening dresses, over the past few seasons focused on translating her signature codes into more versatile daywear options. Ferretti’s new approach again took center stage in her pre-fall lineup, a smartly developed offering to dress women from day to night.

Working a warm fall palette, the designer played with check patterns and delicate botanical motifs to create mannish suits and feminine silk dresses which exuded a British countryside romanticism.
“I wanted to mix and match different pieces with freedom,” said the designer, who, for example, paired a classic tartan coat with a dégradé sweater and a pair of jeans which were painted with an airbrush. A luxurious sense of customization was introduced in the collection through the hand-painted details enriching both a belted jacket and a shirtdress with a utility feel.
Even when she indulged in her iconic eveningwear, Ferretti kept silhouettes wearable and unfussy, presenting fluid silk or velvet styles accentuated with lace details or delicate embroideries. Mixing practicality and sophistication, the designer also created beautiful ruffled silk shirts, designed for ultimate versatility. “Today, women can match a precious blouse with a pair of pants and look perfect for a night event,” Ferretti said.
