Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez asks Twitter for last-minute Halloween costume ideas
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the social media savvy congresswoman representing the 14th district of New York, has taken to Twitter to announce her team's Harvest and Halloween Celebration on Oct. 31, and to ask for help coming up with a last-minute Halloween costume.
As most people are aware, tweets from a member of the government giving social media users free rein to comment can lead to citizens airing their grievances against their policies instead. But, surprisingly, social media users have been rather genuine in their suggestions.
The Good News: We are hosting a kids’ Halloween/Harvest celebration party for NY-14 families tomorrow! 🎃🍂
The Bad News: I haven’t had time to put together a costume :(
Any favorite last minute costume ideas out there? Help!— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) October 30, 2019
Naturally, some suggestions were politically-themed.

Others, however, offered simply solid last-minute costume ideas.

And then, of course, more than one critic couldn't resist throwing in their two cents.

Hopefully, AOC will be able to scrounge up a solid Halloween costume in the knick of time, as Team AOC's Halloween & Harvest Celebration is set to kick off on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Bronx. Attendees can expect "fun, games, and crafts for kids, and candy and music for ALL!" according to the Facebook event.
Happy Halloween everyone - don’t boo, vote! 👻
Thank you to all our NY-14 families who turned out to our community Halloween party in the Bronx.
From chicken little to peacocks, there were so many amazing costumes tonight. I came as a bodega cat 🐱 pic.twitter.com/N7WdxI2xF6— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) November 1, 2018
Last year, AOC attended the community event dressed as a bodega cat, so another New York-themed costume would be one way to go. Perhaps, Joaquin Phoenix's Joker — if only so she could pose on "the Joker stairs" in the Bronx.
What do you think Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should dress up as for Halloween this year?
