Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calls out man 'creepily' taking her photo: 'This is weird!'
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may now be a public figure, but she’s still protective of her privacy.
The freshman congresswoman has been increasingly vocal about her right to a private life, slamming recent media reports that listed her address in the wake of news that she and other Democrat politicians were on a Coast Guard officer’s alleged list of targets.
While the New Yorker is happy to film social media clips in her PJs, share her skin care routine and hook up fans of her go-to hoop earrings, there is a line separating what is and is not acceptable. Filming her on the sly, for instance? Not cool.
Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to call out a man who was “creepily” trying to go unnoticed as he photographed her, prompting her to confront him over his “weird” behavior.
Tonight a dude was creepily (and obviously) taking a picture of me while pretending he wasn’t and I had to break his imaginary fourth wall and say “Hi! I’m a person! This is weird!” https://t.co/JnybvVubVh

Her tweet caught the attention of alt-right firebrand Jack Posobiec, who turned her discomfort into a joke. Ocasio-Cortez fired back, accusing him of being “stalkerish” and “so unaware of his own creepiness.”
When you’re a guy that’s so unaware of his own creepiness that you tweet this from your own account as if it’s normal and not stalkerish at all 👍🏽 https://t.co/XMMLp550At

Posobiec’s tweet — and the implication that he was secretly photographing her — was widely criticized.
as if being a normal stalker wasn't bad enough you're doing it the week after someone was just busted plotting to assassinate her

No matter how much you stalk her, she's never gonna make out with you. Just give up. This is the creepiest tweet I've seen today.

I mean, are you not literally admitting to stalking and invasion of privacy? Regardless, this is HELLA creepy my dude.

Ocasio-Cortez defended herself against speculation about her residency earlier in the week, citing security concerns.
“A man was just arrested last week with a stockpile of guns specifically trying to kill me & others, so yeah I’m not gonna disclose my personal address or tell people when I move,” she tweeted.
I still live in my hood and literally instagrammed from my apartment tonight. A man was just arrested last week with a stockpile of guns specifically trying to kill me & others, so yeah I’m not gonna disclose my personal address or tell people when I move. Sorry!
