Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has found a new, quarantine-approved way to interact with her followers: Visit them on Nintendo's Animal Crossing.

It all began when reporter Aída Chávez broke the news on Thursday that Ocasio-Cortez had started playing the Nintendo Switch game, which has become a staple of many a stay-at-home routine. Shortly after, AOC tweeted that she wanted to visit random people's islands and opened up her DMs for exactly four minutes to receive Dodo codes, the key to accessing another person's island.

"Honestly never in my life did I think opening my DMs would grant me faith in humanity but the brief window actually resulted in a lot of these messages being very wholesome," she tweeted. "People are asking for surprise visits to their spouse’s islands!! This is the love everyone deserves"

In her first visit, AOC said she exchanged fruit, took pictures, and signed a bulletin note on an island belonging to a family of three. The Washington Post later reported that the family who owned the island actually used to live in her congressional district.

AOC ended up opening her DMs one more time Thursday night for even more home visits. On one island she reportedly rocked out on the guitar and gifted some pears. And, yes, the congresswoman confirmed that she is in fact wearing a hand-drawn campaign shirt that says "AOC" on it.

Though the window seems to be closed for submitting your Dodo codes, one Twitter user had the brilliant suggestion to just go ahead and host the 2020 Democratic National Convention in Animal Crossing, which AOC seconded.

Maybe next time she can band together with her followers to take on "capitalist crook" Tom Nook?
