Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shares her $9 press-on manicure on social media
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, just proved it doesn’t take thousands of dollars to dress the part.
The 29-year-old congresswoman from New York’s 14th District hopped on a train to Washington, D.C., after a canceled flight and indulged in a glass of wine and a DIY drugstore manicure. “Today was so nuts I am having a glass of wine and giving myself a press-on manicure (THEY ARE NOT CORNY ANYMORE!) on the Amtrak at almost 1am. YOLO,” Ocasio-Cortez captioned her Instagram Story video.
Ocasio-Cortez used the imPRESS Press-on So, So Stellar Manicure Set ($9), a neutral set that includes a few glittery accent nails. She shared a photo of her nails once they were on and also gave a few manicure tips to followers.
“I wish someone told me about these sooner. LOOK AT HOW GOOD THESE ARE! They’re not even done yet! This is halfway through,” she wrote. Her tip for achieving the perfect manicure? “The trick is to wait a bit, then file them down to your natural/desired shape,” she wrote. “I usually go with plain nails, but when I want a little pick me up or if an event is coming I’ll grab these at the drug store.”
This isn’t the first time the congresswoman has been candid about her favorite beauty products. “I have been getting many inquiries about my debate lip color in the last two days. I GOT YOU. It’s Stila ‘Stay All Day’ Liquid in Beso,” she tweeted back in June 2018 of the $22 lipstick.
