Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reveals her 5-step skincare routine: 'Trying imperfectly is better than doing nothing at all'
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is making her skincare secrets accessible to all.
The politician, who represents New York’s 14th congressional district, took to Instagram on Thursday to respond to a follower who asked how she got her “amazing” skin and to advise them on how they could “step up” their skincare game.
Ocasio-Cortez shared that she gets her glow thanks to double cleansing, moisturizer and sunscreen as well as retinol at night and vitamin C in the morning. She added that she gets “bonus points for drinking water.”
The New Yorker noted that it’s possible to “get good options at every budget” but that “sunscreen is so important.”
“If you’re struggling with crazy schedules or are in a mental health slump, it can be hard to be consistent,” she continued. “For me, doing my evening routine EARLY, before I get too tired, was a game-changer! Who says you need to wait until bedtime? You can do it right when you get home from work, before dinner, etc.”
The 32-year-old shared that a way to cut down on time was to skip retinol and vitamin C and just use moisturizer.
“Anything is better than nothing,” she added. “Trying imperfectly is better than doing nothing at all.”
Ocasio-Cortez also responded to a follower who asked her how she responded to “sexist comments” related to “being female.” AOC, who is currently in a relationship with web developer Riley Roberts, responded that oftentimes when she would ask her colleagues on the floor for assistance with legislation, she would be met with the question, “So when are you getting married?”
This isn’t the first time that AOC has called out sexism. In 2020, she took to the House floor to call out Rep. Ted Yoho, who she alleged called her a “f*****g b***h” in front of reporters.
“It happens every day in this country. It happened here on the steps of our nation’s Capitol,” she read into the Congressional record on the House floor. “It happens when individuals who hold the highest office in this land admit to hurting women and using this language against all of us.”
