'Ally' son has the best response to mom's viral #HimToo tweet bashing 'false sexual accusations by radical feminists'
The #MeToo movement and the allegations of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh have prompted one mom to speak out — but her family isn’t playing along.
#HimToo began trending on Twitter this week after a self-professed “Navy mom” posted a photo of her son striking a precocious pose in his uniform. Her accompanying message, however, was anything but playful.
“This is MY son,” she wrote. “He graduated #1 in boot camp. He was awarded the USO award. He was #1 in A school. He is a gentleman who respects women. He won’t go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind. I VOTE. #HimToo”
The impassioned post didn’t get the reaction the mother may have hoped for, with Twitter users rushing to create memes mocking her message.
This is my son. He was #1 on the charts. He won’t go on solo dates even though he never gave up, let you down, run around, or deserted you, make you cry, say goodbye, tell a lie nor hurt you #HimToo pic.twitter.com/Q5sMpGIVR3

This is my sun. It won’t go on dates with girls because it’s a giant mass of incandescent gas and therefore too hot to handle. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/eEzBYG3Hws

This is MY son. He singlehandedly runs a small hotel. He's a homeowner. He knows a boy's best friend is his mother. He goes a little mad sometimes. He won't go on solo dates due to the current climate of false accusations by radical anti-shower-stabbing feminists. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/qSYY7Cy46E

But the memes were nothing compared with the reaction from the woman’s own family. One son, Jon Hanson — brother to the man pictured in the tweet, Pieter Hanson — decided to set the record straight. He called the tweet “ridiculous,” adding that his mother “made up” the story about Pieter not going on solo dates.
“My mom is crazy,” he tweeted. “She just loves attention. Guess she got it.”
According to Hanson, his mom claimed her account was hacked, which he doesn’t believe. She has since deleted her Twitter account.
My brother is trending on twitter because of my moms ridiculous tweet. I’m a mixture of laughing hard and feeling bad for him. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/YG93x9ikii

Hanson added that Pieter — who is in fact straight, single, and open to solo dates — was “pissed” about being the subject of his mother’s tweet. The attention spurred him to join Twitter on Monday night, and his first post makes it clear that this “cat dad” has a sense of humor about the whole matter. Oh, and plot twist: He’s a feminist “ally.”
“I respect and #BelieveWomen,” Pieter clarified, using the Twitter handle @Thatwasmymom. “I never have and never will support #HimToo.”
That was my Mom. Sometimes the people we love do things that hurt us without realizing it. Let’s turn this around. I respect and #BelieveWomen . I never have and never will support #HimToo . I’m a proud Navy vet, Cat Dad and Ally. Also, Twitter, your meme game is on point. pic.twitter.com/yZFkEjyB6L

While Mom may disagree with his politics, she’s bound to be impressed with the internet fame he’s achieved — so long as it wins him a date, of course.
That escalated quickly 😂 #HimToo pic.twitter.com/uafXy6Yi45
