It’s almost pool season. Here’s when the Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center opens, plus more news in brief.
MANITOWOC – Summer is almost here, and so is the start of the Manitowoc Family Aquatic Center & Mini Golf Course season.
The season at the Aquatic Center, 940 N. 18th St., opens June 8 and runs through Aug. 18.
Pool hours and special pool events include the following:
Open swim: Noon to 6 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays (11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 21 and Aug. 9); 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays (noon to 7 p.m. June 29 and July 20); and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Children 10 and younger must be accompanied by someone 15 years old or older.
Tot Time: 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays
Lap swim: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays
Adult swim: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays
H20 Aqua Craze: 6:30 p.m. Mondays (cost is $2 per person per class)
Family Pool Party: 5:30-7:30 p.m. June 21
Adult Pool Party: 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 9
Mini golf hours are as follow:
May 28-June 7: 4-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends
June 8-Aug. 18: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily
Aug. 24-Oct. 6 (plus Labor Day): 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays only
Cost of the pool and mini golf are as follow:
Day passes: A day pass is $6 and is good for the Aquatic Center or mini golf.
Season memberships: Season membership for the pool or mini golf is $50 per person or $75 per person for a combo pool/mini-golf membership.
Punch cards: Punch cards are $50 for 10 punches, are good for the pool or mini-golf, and can be used by multiple people.
Mini-Golf League: Play any time during open hours, once per week from June 16 to Aug. 10 for $32. The league is open to all ages.
Season passes and punch cards can be purchased at the Manitowoc Senior Center & Recreation Division office inside the Senior Center, 3330 Custer St., or by calling 920-686-3060.

Summer Fun Guide: The 2024 Summer Fun Guide is available at the Recreation Office at the Senior Center, City Hall, Rahr-West Art Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo and the Manitowoc Tourism Office. It lists all of the activities and classes for the summer.
Senior Center:
Blood pressure checks: Free blood pressure checks are offered every second Friday and fourth Wednesday of the month.
Outdoor fitness with Ann: This is offered at 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays. May 29 will meet in the parking lot at Woodland Dunes, 3000 Hawthorne Ave., Two Rivers. Registration isn’t required but a Senior Center punch card or $5 day pass for non-members is required.
Rummage Sale & Fry Out: The sale runs 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and the fry out runs 11 a.m.-2 p.m. June 27. Items for sale include household goods, outdoor items, books, puzzles, crafts, sports items, tools and more. New or gently used items can be donated for the sale at the Senior Center between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. June 26.
Board on Aging & Long-Term Care: 10 a.m. June 18. This agency advocates for the interests of Wisconsin’s long-term care consumers, informs consumers of their rights and educates the public about health care systems. The program is open to anyone.
Gift shop: The Senior Center Gift Shop is open to the public from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.
New Maritime Museum exhibit: Hundreds of shipwreck artifacts to be on display for the first time in new Wisconsin Maritime Museum exhibit
Ice Age Trail chapter hosts National Trails Day Hike in Kiel
Lakeshore Chapter of Ice Age Trail will hold a hike on National Trails Day June 1.
The 2.3-mile out-and-back hike will begin at 9 a.m. in the lower parking lot of Walla Hi County Park in Kiel.
Exotic pet surrender event June 15
An exotic pet surrender event is coming up June 15 at Ledgeview Nature Center in Chilton.
The event is organized by J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue in collaboration with Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance, Winnebago Waterways and University of Wisconsin Sea Grant/Water Resources Institutes.
People can surrender fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals and plants with no questions asked.
Ledgeview is at W2348 Short Road. The event runs noon-3 p.m. June 15.
Manitowoc history: ‘To fly, fight and die?’ This World War I flying ace was from Manitowoc and earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses.
Chamber Ambassadors names scholarship recipients
Chamber of Manitowoc County Ambassadors has announced recipients of its three $1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship.
The scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors who are employed by or have a parent or guardian employed by a Chamber-member business or organization.
This year’s recipients were Addison Bauknecht, Two Rivers High School, $1,000; Amber Fiecko, Roncalli High School, $1,000; Elizabeth Kinzel, Roncalli High School, $1,000; and Briar Albaugh, Manitowoc County Homeschool, $500.

Share Night fundraiser for Historical Society set at A&W
A Share Night fundraiser to benefit the Manitowoc County Historical Society is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. June 20 at A&W, 4141 Harbor Town Lane, Manitowoc.
Funds raised through the Share Night will assist the Historical Society with its operations and educational programs.
