Follow Along as We Overhaul a Dining Room in Six Short Weeks!

We have been huge fans of The One Room Challenge for a long time (read: obsessed) and we are soooo beyond excited to be participating in this Fall challenge that starts, umm TODAY! For those who are new to the series, the gist is 20 bloggers pick one space in their home to design in a mere six weeks, documenting the whole process along the way...the blood, the sweat, the tears, the wallpaper!!

The Room

From the title, you may have guessed that I decided to transform my...drumroll please... dining room. And when I say this is long overdue, that's a complete understatement. This space has endured 5 years of pale yellow walls without a single change. I blame being pregnant with twins when we moved in and trying to raise said humans for lack of painting and redoing former owners' questionable color choices.

What this room does have going for it is really good bones. Large windows, pretty french doors and the cozy charm of our Cape cottage are all on its resume.

Over all, I want to create a space that’s gorgeous but livable. With not a ton of square footage, every room needs to work double time. Our dining room not only hosts family meals and fun get togethers but it also serves as art barn, office station and even dance party central on occasion.

The Inspiration

I am a California girl born and raised who now calls a little sleepy seaside town South of Boston home. And my style is the perfect mash-up of all of the above. For this project, I am marrying my West Coast roots with my New England home. And I like blue, like a lot. So there will definitely be some #blueandwhiteforever vibes wrapped in the design. Add wallpaper to the mix a la this beauty below and we're on the right track.
