Amazon Is Selling a DIY Tiny Cabin That Can Be Built In Less Than a Day
If you're anything like me, you've spent an embarrassing number of Sundays clocking up to, if not more than, 10 hours in front of the TV. Impressive? Yes.
Productive? Ehhhh, let's just say there are definitely more productive activities, such as grocery shopping, meal prepping for the week, getting a head start on work, cleaning your bathroom, building a tiny house...ya know, the usual.
Yup, you read that right: building a tiny house. Sure, it might not be as high up on your to-do list as scrubbing the shower (ugh), but with the right tiny house kit it's totally and completely doable—and in 10 hours, no less.
Meet: the Allwood Estelle, a log cabin creation that can be built in less than day, provided that your friends pitch in and you all follow the step-by-step instructions. And, get this, according to the tiny home creators and all around masters at Allwood (remember: they're the same folks that built this and this), you only need "minimal tools" to set up the wood structure.
Available for a very specific $6,371.39, the Estelle has two rooms—together a total of 157 square feet—that are separated by a wall. The main room is 106 square feet and the smaller, a wee 51 square feet, which is why the company intended it to be for storage. That said, you can transform this space into a bathroom or a sleeping alcove and add a door to the wall to make moving between the two areas a breeze. Head's up: You're going to need to call in an outside crew if you want to add plumbing and wiring.
Don't feel like doing all that extra work? No problem. The Estelle can make for a very, very minimalist tiny living situation (outhouse, anyone?) as well as a dream office, garden cottage, or even a yoga studio. The choice, dear readers, is yours. As is whether or not to tack one some extra features like a canopy roof storage, which costs a few hundred dollars but probably comes in handy when you're downsizing to such a dwelling.
