These Are America’s Least Favorite Thanksgiving Foods, According to Instacart
When it comes to Thanksgiving, there are many decisions to be made. You have to deal with who will host, what will be on the menu, and who’s bringing what. In light of the hassle that goes into the big dinner, Instacart decided to find out if Americans truly enjoy a Thanksgiving meal or if they simply do it year after year to fulfill tradition. While they were at it, they pooled people's least fav T-givs foods and their results will...probably not shock you.
The top offenders for the most hated Thanksgiving foods include (drum roll, please): canned cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes/sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie, and TURKEY—the literal main event! People said they secretly dislike all of these things but eat them anyway because of tradition.
Canned cranberry sauce came out on top as the most disliked. Of the people surveyed, nearly half said it’s “disgusting.” Although that may be the case, customers on Instacart bought 50 percent more canned cranberry sauce than they did fresh cranberries last Thanksgiving.
Of those surveyed who have hosted Thanksgiving, 30 percent served something other than turkey as the main dish. After turkey, pork is the most purchased meat on Instacart before Thanksgiving.
Apart from the classic foods people are secretly not a fan of, Instacart’s data shows that people buy more Cheez Whiz in the three weeks leading up to Thanksgiving than any other time of year. Can you blame them?
Whatever your least favorite Thanksgiving food happens to be, let’s all agree to focus on the positives, OK? Please pass the mac and cheese.
