American adds Phoenix flights, including an international city. Here's where you can fly
Corrections and clarifications: A previous version of this article gave incorrect information about a discontinued American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Mexico.
American Airlines isn't finished expanding its flight capacity in Phoenix.
It announced two more routes on July 26, including new service to Mexico, just one month after revealing a major service expansion including one new and one returning route.
The first flights are scheduled for 2024.
When the new routes begin, American will offer more than 260 daily flights to 100 destinations out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, expanding its distinction as the carrier with the airport's largest flight capacity. American operates about 40% of all flights from the Phoenix airport.
"It’s particularly exciting when not only are we providing new direct service, but also opening a wide window of opportunity for the tens of thousands of customers that connect through the airport while traveling on American each day," Sophia Philis-Ortiz, American's vice president of Phoenix hub operations, said in a statement.

What are American Airlines' new flights from Phoenix?
One of American's new routes — Tijuana, Mexico — will expand its dominance in connecting Phoenix and Mexico. The airline is also increasing service between Phoenix and Guadalajara from one flight weekly to two flights weekly.
Tijuana, a border city about 20 miles from San Diego, is known for its beaches (Playas de Tijuana), museums like the Tijuana Cultural Center and its street food, wineries and breweries.
When the Tijuana route begins, it will be American's 12th city in Mexico with nonstop service from Sky Harbor. The airline also flies to Cancun, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Ixtapa-Zihuantanejo, Loreto, Manzanillo, Mazatlán, Mexico City, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos (the latter serving San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas).
American previously flew to La Paz from Sky Harbor, but discontinued the route in January because it wasn't meeting expectations, airline spokesman Derek Walls said.
The other new route is to Pasco, Washington, about 135 miles southwest of Spokane. Pasco is part of a region known as the Tri-Cities, also including Richland and Kennewick. Pasco is most famous for the confluence of the Snake and Columbia rivers, a key site on the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail.
American also flies to Seattle and Spokane, Washington, and Eugene, Medford and Redmond, Oregon, from Phoenix.
When will American's new flights from Phoenix begin?
The first American Airlines Phoenix-Tijuana and Phoenix-Pasco flights are scheduled to take off on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024.
Passengers can book starting July 30 at https://www.aa.com, Walls said.
