Amy Grant Honors Parents With Performance Of 'Trees We'll Never See' For Alzheimer's Campaign
Music superstar Amy Grant has teamed up with the Alzheimer's Association for a special performance of "Trees We'll Never See" in honor of her parents.
The six-time Grammy Award winner performed her recently released single for "Music Moments," a digital storytelling series that connects music with the moments in life we never want to lose. Grant also gave an interview in which she discussed her personal connection with dementia, something that affected both her parents.
“Music is the only gathering where everybody is on the same wavelength,” Grant said. “I chose to perform ‘Trees We’ll Never See’ for the Alzheimer’s Association Music Moments campaign because it mentions Mom and Dad and how nobody should face a hard thing alone, which is so important for families facing dementia to recognize. I hope people, particularly caregivers, who hear this song can realize that even in hard situations, there are always beautiful aspects.”
"Trees We'll Never See" captures the beauty of planting trees that grow long after we're gone, noting that "Statues fall and glory fades / But a 100-year-old oak tree still gives shade."
“Having Amy Grant partner with us for Music Moments during the holiday season, when families are gathering, makes her personal story about family caregiving all the more powerful," said Joanne Pike, president and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association. "She is helping spark conversations that can be hard for families to have, while letting others know they aren’t alone and that resources are available through the Alzheimer’s Association for families facing dementia.”
