Amy Schumer Explains Nicole Kidman Joke After Cyberbullying Criticism
Amy Schumer is letting everyone know that she has no bad blood with Nicole Kidman, despite some of the recent headlines.
Earlier this week, the I Feel Pretty star made a joke about a photo of Kidman attending the US Open in New York, where the Oscar-winner appeared to be super zoned-in on watching the match.
Joking in a since-deleted post that Kidman didn't look human in the photo, Schumer quickly got heat from fans who thought she was being mean—and even "cyberbullying"—the actress.
But Schumer, 42, tried to put all the drama to rest with a new Instagram post on Friday, Sept. 15, where she explained that she was in no way trying to make fun of Kidman.
"Okay so the joke I was making was the way she was posed didn't seem like how a human sits," Schumer clarified. "I was not making fun of how she looks."
"Nicole Kidman is beautiful and one of the most incredible actors of all time," she added.
In her caption, Schumer took aim at the media outlets that have been trying to make the story more contentious than it actually was, writing, "I hope everyone is okay and takes a deep breath including all of the think pieces written on this."
"You guys good?" she quipped.
She then replied to the people who have been hating on Schumer in regards to the situation, sarcastically writing, "To all of the people who commented on me. I’m so sorry I’m not prettier. Please forgive me. I apologize."
"It wasn’t even a slow news day," she further insisted, while citing deadly storms, foreign relations, and recent sexual assault cases.
"But what got your goat was me saying that Nicole kidmans pose was not human like," she wondered, before urging, "Breathe y’all."
"To the people who write hateful things below I forgive you as a mother, a woman and most importantly as someone who also likes hot goss," she added, before bidding her followers to "have a good weekend."
That should be the last time someone mistakes Schumer for trying to bully Kidman!
