Amy Schumer’s Photo of Her Newborn Son's First Bath Is as Real as It Gets
Amy Schumer and husband Chris Fischer just gave their newborn son Gene Attell Fischer his first bath.
In a new image shared to Instagram Stories, Gene appears to rest post-bath while mom and dad are covered in water.
Just last week, Schumer faced backlash from mom-shamers for returning to work to do standup comedy just two weeks after giving birth. Celebrities, however, quickly came to her defense in the comments.
If you want to see what parenthood is actually like without any filters or glamorous photo opportunities, look no further than Amy Schumer’s Instagram feed.
Since welcoming her first child, Gene Attell Fischer, with husband Chris Fischer on May 5, the comedian and actress has used the social media platform to keep fans up to date on the couple’s life as new parents-and it’s always so relatable.
On Friday, Schumer took to Instagram Stories to post an image of herself and her husband with little Gene snuggled up into a blanket drinking from a baby bottle. “First bath no problem,” she wrote as a caption. What’s hilarious about the shot is that while Gene appears to be at peace, Schumer and Fisher are clearly covered in water pretty much from head to toe.
After welcoming Gene in early May, Schumer began sharing images of life at home-all of which offer a refreshing contrast to the seemingly picture-perfect shots other Hollywood A-listers tend to upload post-birth. In two images, for example, she’s breast-pumping, sending affirming messages like, “Sending out love to the moms shaming me for doing standup last night!”
The last image below, of course, was shared after Schumer received backlash from mom-shamers for returning to work two weeks after welcoming her son.
Celebrities such as Selma Blair, Tess Holliday, Debra Messing, Demi Lovato, Aidy Bryant, Melanie Griffith, and Krysten Ritter all chimed in to the comments, giving her nothing but support for doing what any working mom-and working dad-would do.
And after Mother’s Day, she got praise from more celebs in the comments for posting an image of herself in a hospital gown still hooked up to IVs and other machinery. “Milk alert 1 o’clock,” she wrote, once again offering an accurate depiction of what life after giving birth is really like.
Keep the super-real images coming, Amy.
