Others thanked the actress for being a woman in entertainment who hasn't succumbed to the idea that women lose their appeal as they age.
"Thank you so much for just being you, naturally, authentically, and not succumbing to the pressures that Hollywood puts on women to be ageless," a fan wrote. "You're beautiful regardless!"
Back in February, MacDowell opened up on "The Drew Barrymore Show" about embracing her "badass" hair and transforming into a "silver fox."
According to MacDowell, she stopped colouring her hair during COVID-19 and eventually came to love her natural colour.
"I wasn't colouring my hair and you could see my roots, and my daughters [Rainey and Margaret Qualley] kept telling me that I looked badass. And that idea that I could look badass appealed to me," she said. "So I went for it, and I'm loving it."
The L'Oréal beauty ambassador said she doesn't think of her decision to no longer dye her hair a sign that she's "letting herself go." Instead, MacDowell has dubbed herself a "silver fox" as a way to feel empowered about the new look.

"When I first did it I went to the grocery store because we had no place to go and I thought I looked good, and I saw a man there — a 'silver fox' guy. A guy you see and go 'he's a silver fox,'' she began. "And I immediately just put my shoulders back, and I was like, 'and so am I.' We kind of shot a look at each other and I was like, 'I'm a silver fox.'"
The actress admitted that while she may be embracing her natural colour right now, she can't promise that she will keep it this way forever.
"I don't know what's going to happen in five years, I may colour my hair again. But I'm enjoying it right now."
