Andra Day kicked off the 2021 Golden Globes with a standout look straight off the runway. Day, nominated this evening for her portrayal of the iconic Billie Holiday in Hulu's The United States vs. Billie Holiday, wore a show stopping gown from Chanel's Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection to mark the occasion.

Ahead of the night's ceremony, the singer and actress posed for a few photographs in the floor-length, figure-hugging muted gray gown that included intricate detailing such as a sequin macrame bodice, embroidered detailing, a halter style neckline, and a sweeping tulle skirt. Day paired the couture gown with an ethereal glam beauty look, also from the luxury brand, which included bold brows, shimmery champagne hued eyeshadow, gorgeously highlighted cheekbones and a bold, lined, crimson lip. Her was hair styled into a curly, coiled updo.

The actress's accessories for the evening were equally as stunning: Chanel Brins de Diamanta earrings, Legende de Blé’ bracelet, and a combination of the Commanding ring, Lion Astral ring, and Coco Crush mini rings.

Day recently spoke to Harper's BAZAAR about the emotional, mental and physical discipline it took to prepare for her portrayal of the legendary jazz singer, including even taking up smoking and swearing as the late singer was notoriously fond of.

"It was just allowing myself to be more reckless—not reckless, but sort of self-damaging in my behaviors," Day told BAZAAR. "[My acting coaches told me] do not shed yourself. You have to have Billie and bring Andra through Billie.”

Day also compared the preparation process to when she's readying to go onstage or record music and her willingness to give all of herself for the sake of the project.

"[When I'm singing] I’m losing myself in myself. But when I’m in movies, I’m losing myself in another person, and you have a responsibility to that person," said Day.
