Angelina Jolie shares rare photos of her children Zahara and Shiloh
Angelina Jolie is raising readers.
The Maleficent star, who only created an Instagram account last month, took to the social media platform to post photos of two of her children — Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 16, and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, 15 — enjoying some summer reading. Jolie shares Zahara and Shiloh, as well as Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 13, with her former husband Brad Pitt.
“End of #summerreading,” the Girl, Interrupted actress captioned the post. “These are some of the favorites in our house. Would love to know yours.”
Zahara is reading Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye, while Shiloh is enjoying The Dark Lady by Akala.
Jolie, a longtime human rights activist, launched her Instagram account in August. For her first post, she shared a letter from an Afghan girl in the wake of the Taliban’s takeover.
“This is a letter I was sent from a teenage girl in Afghanistan,” Jolie captioned the post. “Right now, the people of Afghanistan are losing their ability to communicate on social media and to express themselves freely. So I’ve come on Instagram to share their stories and the voices of those across the globe who are fighting for their basic human rights.”
In 2019, Jolie spoke to Hello about the challenges of raising children in a complicated world.
"It's important to be humble — know the freedoms you have and what you've been blessed with and make sure you help others. And always remember your place — we’re all human and very flawed. We're tiny pieces in a much bigger world,” she explained. “As they grow up, I find my children are strong individuals but still open-minded. I try to lead by example and be kind and gracious, as my mother was — and loving and tolerant. But when there's a fight that needs to be had, get in there. We need to prepare the next generation because there’s so much happening in the world — they’re up against it.”
