Angelina Jolie and Son Make Rare Public Outing to the White House
Apparently, Angelina Jolie isn't the only activist among the Jolie-Pitt crew.
The actress and humanitarian, 47, recently took on Washington alongside her eldest son, 21-year-old Maddox Jolie-Pitt, who accompanied her to the White House state dinner on Wednesday, April 26.
The duo showed up in style to the event held by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden as they hosted South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee.
Jolie looked perfectly sophisticated for the occasion, wearing an elegant ivory gown with a vintage Chanel blazer jacket over it. She also added a gold clutch purse and matching necklace, while further giving the look a pop of color with a bright red lip.
For his part, Maddox was spiffed up in a classic black suit and tie, making the look even more refined with the addition of some square-frame glasses.
The Eternals star and her eldest son were reportedly among the event's invitees due to their strong connection to South Korea, as a source close to Jolie told PEOPLE, "Asia-America relations are important to Angelina's family. She and the children have had close ties to the region, including South Korea, for many years."
"Maddox studied at Yonsei University in Seoul," the source added. "Angelina has visited South Korea many times for her humanitarian and refugee advocacy over the past two decades, and as an artist. Angelina and Maddox are honored to attend this State Dinner."
Maddox is one of the Oscar-winner's six children she shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The estranged pair are also parents to Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 16 and 14-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
But Maddox and his famous mom weren't the only celebrity names on Wednesday's guest list, as other attendees included Chip and Joanna Gaines and Olympian Chloe Kim.
