From Town & Country

The seventh annual Hamptons Cup, presented by Cartier at the Equualeus Polo Club in Water Mill, New York, brought together hundreds of families on August 5. This unique event takes place at the private residence of the DiMenna’s, who only open their property to the public one day a year.

As impressive as the backdrop, though, is the amount of money that has been raised over the past few years because this event is completely underwritten by sponsors and donors so 100 percent of ticket sales go to Robin Hood and will help low-income New Yorkers.

This year was no exception, as many repeat guests including Whitney Fairchild, Delfina Figueras, and new Robin Hood foundation president, Wes Moore, mingled on the gorgeous grounds and raised an additional $500,000, bringing the total raised over the years to $4.1 million.

Diana and her husband, Joe, were drawn to Robin Hood through their daughters, Tess and Claire. When asked how the DiMenna’s decided to open their farm to this charity Diana recalls, “My daughters had a lemonade stand to raise money for Robin Hood at the Hamptons Classic polo, and Nacho Figueras came by to say hi. He started asking questions about Robin Hood, and then jumped behind the table, put on a Robin Hood t-shirt and helped the girls sell shirts and lemonade.

A few minutes later Kelly Bensimon joined us and began cutting and styling the t-shirts so we ended up having an incredibly profitable day. Afterwards, Nacho said that we should do this again. An hour later, he said “let’s do a polo match for Robin Hood,” and seven weeks later Joe and I were hosting the first match here!

We pulled it together so quickly, and it was so much fun. People and sponsors just kept saying yes. Since then, we have been lucky and all things have continued to work together, even the weather. The sun always comes out for Robin Hood.”
