Another 'Chicago Fire' Cast Member Exits During Season 12
Kara Killmer
Even as Kara Killmer posts about her return to work on Chicago Fire for season 12, TVLine is reporting that she will be exiting her role as paramedic Sylvie Brett at the end of the season—if not earlier.

Of course, writing an exit for Sylvie is no biggie. She and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) are still very much in love, despite ending their long-distance relationship because Sylvie felt compelled to stay in Chicago to run her paramedicine program, which was introduced in season 10. The program was created so that patients in need of assistance have teams ready to help them, no matter how small the health care issue is, and it was of import to Sylvie.

But now that it’s considered a success, Sylvie may turn it over to other capable hands and say yes to Casey’s proposal from last May 24'a season finale. We’ve been waiting a very long time to hear her answer since the episode ended with a cliffhanger as to whether or not she says yes. That would be all the reason she would need to relocate to Portland, where Casey is now based.
Killmer’s exit comes on the heels of the news that Taylor Kinney will be returning to his role as Lt. Kelly Severide on Chicago Fire for season 12 after exiting last year for “personal reasons.” It isn’t clear if Kinney is back for the entire season or is just returning to wrap up his role.
Killmer joined the cast of the #OneChicago series in season 3, following the death of paramedic Leslie Shay (Lauren German) and has left her mark on the series with a number of notable storylines, including the aforementioned paramedicine program and romance with Casey.
Chicago Fire’s season 12 premiere date has yet to be revealed by NBC. But when it does, it will be for a shortened season as a result of both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
