Anthony Michael Hall, 55, Welcomes First Child With Wife
Anthony Michael Hall is officially a dad!
The actor, 55, announced that his wife, Lucia Hall, 32, gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Michael Anthony Hall II weighing 9 lbs., 7 oz., on Thursday, June 1, in Los Angeles, California.
After a month of adjusting to parenthood, the couple shared the happy news with People.
The Sixteen Candles actor shared with the publication, "It's great. We're excited. That first month of parenting is pretty wild. Everything that everybody tells you is pretty true: you lose sleep and it's the craziest time, but it's the best time. So we're really enjoying it."
Hall and his wife named the baby after him, as the actor's birth name is Michael Anthony. He reportedly had to switch the names around when he joined the Screen Actor's Guild in 1976, likely because another actor of the same name was already a member.
"I knew I did want to name him Michael and my wife also loved that name, even before she met me. So we've shared that, and then we decided to go with the suffix so he's Michael Anthony Hall II because there are a lot of juniors in the world. There’s nothing wrong with that, but we figured we wanted to keep that full name," the new father said of their name choice.
Thankfully, it seems like Lucia's pregnancy went very well, with Hall noting that she "floated beautifully through her pregnancy."
He added, "She was really amazing with it. She’s very healthy and has great genes, so it was all smooth and other than being a little sleep deprived now, really great."
As for life as a new mom, Hall explained, "She does great research and we read tons of books and are also just learning on the job, getting thrown into it. We just love it, it’s been amazing to really fully be in parent mode."
At 55 years old, Hall is becoming a father a little later in life than the average, but he shared his thoughts on this, explaining, "I couldn't be happier because I always knew, even when I was a young man, that I wanted to get started later. Here I am at 55, and I’m fully committed."
"I’m excited. My wife and I are really into parenting and diving in," he concluded.
Hall and his wife Lucia first shared the happy news that they were expecting back in February, and the two are clearly thrilled to embark on their journey as parents.
