Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defends Rashida Tlaib describing Trump as 'motherf***er': 'I got your back'
It’s been an eventful week for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, from the swearing in of the 116th Congress to the storm on social media over a much-discussed video of her dancing as a student at Boston University. But the media uproar surrounding the newly appointed U.S. representative shows no signs of dying down.
Just hours after creating her own dance video to prove that “Congresswomen dance too,” the 29-year-old came to the defense of Rashida Tlaib, one of the first Muslim women to serve in Congress. Tlaib is under fire for a comment she made at a reception in Washington, D.C., on Thursday. “We’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherf*****,” she told the crowd.
Many felt that that Tlaib’s comment was out of line, and no way to bring the country together. Others pointed out that the president himself has often resorted to profanity while in office. Trump responded to the comments on Friday, saying Tlaib “dishonor[ed]” herself and her family by using the profanity. But on Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez came to her defense.
“Republican hypocrisy at its finest: saying that Trump admitting to seχual assault on tape is just ‘locker room talk,’ but scandalizing themselves into faux-outrage when my sis says a curse word in a bar,” AOC tweeted. “GOP lost entitlement to policing women’s behavior a long time ago. Next.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who represents New York’s 14th congressional district, expressed solidarity with Tlaib, the representative for Michigan’s 13th district. “I got your back @RashidaTlaib,” she tweeted. “The Bronx and Detroit ride together.”
As the New York native was busy defending Tlaib, others were coming to her defense — specifically after Ed Rollins, a guest on Lou Dobbs Tonight, referred to her on air Friday as “the little girl.”

In response, former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett took to Twitter with a loaded comeback. “This ‘little girl’ is about to rock your world,” she wrote. “Underestimate @AOC at your own risk.”
