'Alaskan Bush People' Star Matt Brown Has Left Rehab
Alaskan Bush People’s Matt Brown returned to rehab for alcohol abuse in September. Now, representatives for Discovery confirm to CountryLiving.com that he has left, and is receiving treatment at a nearby outpatient facility.
Brown, 36, is reportedly doing well, and continues to be focused on his ongoing sobriety. He is also said to be working with a sober coach, and attending therapy.
The Discovery star first went to rehab in 2016, when he was 33. He told People at the time that the situation started "spiraling" after spending more and more time drinking with friends “in town." But through the ups and downs since then, his parents and siblings have continued to stand by him.
“It’s hard not having one of my babies here with us,” Ami told People. “He was so strong for me, and I want to be strong for him.”
His father, Billy Brown, added, “We miss him terribly, but we’d rather lose him from home for a little while then lose him forever.”
This update comes after a rollercoaster of a year for the Browns. They recently moved to Washington so Ami could be nearer to a health facility, as she needs to get scans every three months to ensure her lung cancer hasn’t returned. The youngest member of the family, Rain, opened up about battling depression, while earlier this year Solomon-who goes by “Bear”-was rushed to the hospital after a scary eye injury.
But there have been some highs for the close-knit group, too. Though Ami is still gaining her strength back, she is cancer-free as of January. Noah Brown also tied the knot with fiancée Rhain Alisha in August, adding one more member of this famous family.
As for how they made it through their difficult times: “I think we just all persevered with a lot of faith in the good Lord and faith in each other,” explained son Gabe.
