'Clueless' Actress Stacey Dash Running For Office
On Monday, Clueless actress Stacey Dash filed to run for Congress as a Republican in California’s 44th District, which encompasses the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Compton, Watts, San Pedro, and North Long Beach.
An overwhelming majority of the district - 83 percent to be exact - voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election. Democrat Nanette Barragán is the current representative for the district.
Dash was hired by Fox News in 2014 to offer her “cultural analysis and commentary,” but her contract has since not been renewed. She supported Republicans Mitt Romney and Donald Trump during their presidential campaigns and wrote a memoir about everything in her life from Clueless to being a Republican.
She also showed up to the Oscars in 2016 as the “director” of the “minority outreach program” after saying there was no need for Black History Month or #OscarsSoWhite, which was a response to the lack of diverse nominees.
Dash has been teasing her political future on Twitter for the past month. On February 9 she said “a number of people” told her she should run for office.
Of course, Twitter had some feelings about the news.
