New Study Says Using a Baby Voice to Talk to Your Dog Makes Them Feel Closer to You

1 min read

Calling all dog parents: You may be justified in talking to your four-legged child in a baby voice, so says a new study.

According to the study from the University of York in the U.K. and published in the journal Animal Cognition, dogs pay more attention and have a deeper emotional connection to their owners when they use their mushy wushy baby voice, aka “Dog Directed Speech.” Dogs were more responsive when their humans used this voice versus normal “Adult Directed Speech” (aka your normal tone of voice).

Permission granted to tell Fido he’s the fluffy wuffiest little woofer (in your best goo-goo ga-ga voice, of course).
