'Grey's Anatomy' Fans Took Comments to the Next Level on Patrick Dempsey's Anniversary Post
Everyone loves a good love story - especially if your nickname is "McDreamy." To celebrate his 19th wedding anniversary, former Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey posted a sweet snap of him and his wife, celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey.
Even sweeter, the couple shared a kiss at the spot where they said "I do" nearly 20 years ago. This anniversary, while a milestone to many, is especially important because just a few years ago the couple nearly called it quits. In fact, Jillian filed for divorce in 2015.
This came at a time when Patrick was also transitioning to life away from Seattle Grace ... and competing in motor sports ... and being one of the most beloved men in Hollywood. Around the time of the announcement, he told People that he was "spread so thin," which ultimately led to the downfall of his marriage.
Through therapy and a greater focus on work-life balance, the couple healed old wounds and called off their divorce on November 12, 2016. "Everybody has their own path," the actor told People."Jill and I decided it was time to work on our issues and improve. We wanted to be role models for our kids (Talula, 16; Sullivan, 11; and Darby, 11) like, okay, if you have differences, you can work them out.”
They now look at their relationship as a "new beginning" and are happier than ever before - and it shows.

But evidently, the Internet (well, the Grey's Anatomy fanbase) doesn't care how happy/in love/smitten the couple may be ... unless the couple is Derek Shepherd and Meredith Grey.
His anniversary post - and basically every other photo he's ever posted with his wife - was flooded with the most dramatic responses from diehard fans.
It all started when Ellen Pompeo - yep, the one and only Meredith Grey - commented "Happy anniversary 💋💍." Welp, then the floodgates opened.
"This is breaking my heart," wrote one user. "THAT'S NOT MEREDITH," wrote another. In fact, a majority of the comments mentioned Meredith. The most dramatic one yet: "First you die and then you cheat, Mer does not deserve this." WHAT?
So, what's all the fuss about? Well, if you're one of the few who didn't watch his final scene on Grey's Anatomy (or if you're in need of a good cry), watch this clip.

Several fans reminded others to celebrate Patrick's actual marriage instead of bringing up his former TV wife. "But honestly stop talking about someone who isn’t real. Yes we all love them together on the show, but when you aren’t watching Grey's realize that he has a real-life family not just one that someone made up. And I bet he doesn’t appreciate over half his comments on his anniversary post to be about someone who isn’t real. Just congratulate him??," someone wrote.
Sure, we get it: Meredith and Derek had one of the greatest love stories on television but hey, it seems like Patrick and Jillian have a pretty incredible love story themselves.
