Michael Pascuzzi, a contestant on Jeopardy Thursday night, walked away a winner before his episode even wrapped-he got a fiancée!

At the start of the ABC trivia game, host Alex Trebek mentioned in the clip above that he normally has fun-fact introductions prepared for each contestant, but had none for Pascuzzi.

The Orlando native then said, "I can fill in for ya," and directed the attention over to his girlfriend, Maria Shafer, who was sitting in the audience.

"I just wanted to say one quick thing, and ask Maria Shafer right there ... if she will make me a winner today and marry me?" Pascuzzi asked. "Will you marry me?"

Shafer immediately got emotional and teared up as the audience applauded. "Yes, of course," she responded.

Trebek then joked, "Maria, you responded too quickly. I was about to say we’ll have the answer to that question right after this commercial break."

"That would be, 'What is yes,'" Shafer added.

While the studio audience seemed to approve of the on-air proposal, not everyone on social media agreed with the grand gesture, pointing out how a similar engagement just took place at the 2018 Emmy Awards.

"It's perfectly romantic to, you know, propose to your loved one in a simple, humble way that doesn't awkwardly involve everybody else," one viewer wrote.

However, this isn't the first time a person attending a Jeopardy taping has been compelled to pop the question to their significant other. In 2013, two audience members got engaged during a commercial break.

We'll take engagement rings for $1,000, Alex.
