Here's How To Score Free Chocolate From Godiva Next Weekend
If there's one time of year that makes you think of bon bons and oversized boxes of chocolate, this is it. Sure, romance and true love and all that may be a factor, but really, Valentine's Day all comes down to expressing - and eating - your feelings. These days, though, you have plenty of ways to show you care beyond the classic heart-shaped box (like Oreo-stuffed donuts, or Red Hot-flavored cookies, just to name a couple). That's why Godiva's dangling the ultimate carrot truffle on a stick to get you in stores: free chocolate for one day only.
In what may be a brilliant marketing move to increase foot traffic, all of the company's U.S. stores will be giving away a free piece of chocolate to anyone who stops by its shops on Sunday, Feb. 11. That also means any enterprising chocoholic (or cheapskate) with an affinity for Google Maps could, theoretically, road trip to every shop in a 50-mile radius that day, embarking on an extended Sunday drive in the name of love. And sugar. Which is basically the same thing.
When you stop by that Sunday, you'll receive a free French vanilla truffle, all covered in dark chocolate. Check it out:
If you miss out on Sunday's freebie, though, there's another way to score free chocolate from Godiva year-round. The company has a little-known rewards program. When you sign up, you'll be given a gold card, which entitles you to one free chocolate a month. (Other perks include free standard shipping on online orders, sneak peeks of new chocolate hitting stores, and a free gift on your birthday.) You can sign up for the membership - which is also free, BTW - at godiva.com/get-chocolate-rewards.
