What's ‘Throning' In Relationships and Dating?

It’s safe to say that we've seen our fair share of weird dating trends: orbiting, Gatsbying, and yes, holidating. Add “throning” to the list, which, surprisingly, has nothing to do with making your S.O. binge Game of Thrones.

Inspired by celeb couples like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, throning is another word for dating someone who boosts your reputation (and, probably, ego) just by association.

And according to data from dating app Plenty of Fish, 27 percent of singles think they’ve been in relationships where they’ve been used as the social leg up for the person they were seeing. SO not cool.

According to experts, building up the other person (instead of hanging on them for externalities) is the key to a long-lasting relationship. (We coulda told you that.)
