Here's Why Alyssa Milano Attended the Kavanaugh Hearing

It's been a grueling seven hours (and counting) for those involved in the hearings regarding the sexual assault allegations leveled by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford against Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

While allusions to Anita Hill and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas were scattered throughout the testimonies, a more surprising name that came up in Twitter feeds and media reports was none other than that of actress-turned-activist Alyssa Milano.

The Charmed star, who has carved a space for herself as one of the most vocal progressives in Hollywood, was spotted inside the small hearing room, seated behind both Ford and Kavanaugh as they answered questions from members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Here's everything we know about her presence in the room.

She was a guest of California senator Dianne Feinstein.

Milano told reporters that she was a guest of ranking member Feinstein, who represents her home state. She flew in from Los Angeles to be present.

She's been here the whole day.

Milano was photographed walking into the room and posing with other attendees before the hearing began at 10 a.m. ET. She also took photos from her seat and posted them to Twitter, writing, "I believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford." She was later told to stop taking photos by a security guard.

She was hanging out with Rep. Carolyn Maloney.

Milano was photographed with New York representative, who voiced her support for Dr. Ford.

Her sole purpose for going? To show support for Ford.

"I felt like I needed to be here to show my solidarity for Dr. Ford," Milano told ABC News. "On this day that will be very difficult for her."

Milano has been credited with helping launch the #MeToo movement into the stratosphere, taking Tarana Burke's hashtag and using it on her Twitter feed to discuss her own experience with sexual assault. Since then, she has acted as an advocate for the accusers, so her support is perfectly in character.
