Today in “How Do the Royals Feel About The Crown,” the answer continues to be…not great! By which I mean a new report claims that Queen Elizabeth II’s late husband, Prince Philip, wanted to sue Netflix over his portrayal.

Apparently, Philip was particularly upset about a storyline that “blamed him for the death of his sister” and went so far as to consult lawyers to see if he could sue Netflix. “I know Prince Philip consulted his lawyer about it, to ask ‘What can I do about it?’” royal expert Hugo Vickers tells the Sunday Times (via The Telegraph). “He was very upset about the way that was portrayed. He was human. He could be hurt like anybody else.”

Note: Philip didn’t watch the show, but he heard about the plotline involving the death of his sister, who died in a plane crash on her way to England to visit him. That said, apparently the Queen did watch and enjoy early seasons of The Crown, which was confirmed by Vanessa Kirby, who told Vanity Fair that a friend of hers was at a party and overheard Princess Eugenie saying her “granny” is a fan.

“A friend of mine was at a party and didn’t know anyone, so he sidled up to this group who were talking about The Crown, when one said, ‘Well, my granny watches it and really likes it,’” Kirby revealed. “It slowly dawned on him that the girl was Eugenie and her granny was the Queen.”

Oh, and a source also told the Daily Express that the Queen’s son Prince Edward got her into the show: “It has been a long-standing arrangement that they drive to Windsor at the weekend to join the Queen for an informal supper while watching TV or a film. They have a Netflix account and urged her to watch it with them. Happily, she really liked it, although obviously, there were some depictions of events that she found too heavily dramatized.”
