Apple recently announced the new Apple Watch Series 6 and the Apple Watch SE for release later this week. These new models are the best and brightest the tech giant has to offer, but expect to pay a premium price upwards of $749 for the privilege. However, you don’t have to break the bank to get your hands on (or wrist on?) a new smartwatch.
Amazon just dropped the price of the Apple Watch Series 5 (44mm) in gold aluminum with a pink sport band from $429 to down just $329—$100 off.
This is the lowest prices we’ve ever seen on the Series 5, so be prepared for them to sell out in a jiffy.
The world on your wrist
Although it was released in 2019, the Apple Series 5 is still one of the best smartwatches available thanks to its brilliant GPS features and ability to track heartbeat, heart rate and calories burned.
Take calls, respond to texts, sync up to music streaming services like Spotify or Apple Music and track steps and workout goals. It seamlessly pairs with the iPhone, too. Use Siri for up-to-the-minute news, weather reports and more. Just hold down the watch’s digital crown to bring up the voice assistant or simply say ‘Hey Siri’ for instant access.
“My first smartwatch and I’m very happy with it,” wrote a five-star reviewer. “Easy to configure. Bought it for walking tracking but using it for so much more, from viewing messages and notifications without picking up the phone to wallet paying with phone in the pocket. Still don’t know what took me so long to make the investment.”
Features galore
Back in September 2019, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 5 with some big differences from previous models. The Series 5 is the first Apple Watch to have an always-on watch face, instead of having to tap or turn your wrist to see the screen.
Meanwhile, it’s also the first to have a compass and EKG sensor (Electrocardiography for heartbeat rhythm) built-in, as well as a speedier processor that’s faster than the Series 4 and Series 3 too. The smartwatch has more on-board storage at 32GB—compared to 16GB from previous models. It even boasts an 18-hour battery life per charge.
This reviewer is grateful for the watch’s close monitoring. “This watch is great. I’m only 31 years old and recently went into AFIB (Atrial fibrillation). My Apple Watch alerted me and I went to the emergency department. It was accurate. The 12 lead EKG confirmed I was in AFIB and I was able to get the treatment I needed,” added the shopper. “It also has many other great features for exercise, weather and reminders. I wouldn’t wear any other watch.”
“What’s not to love?!” reported another fan. “This is my first Apple Watch and I am blown away by the usability, ease of use and many functions. I especially love that you can customize so many watch faces allowing each one to project different information. The customization is seriously endless!”
Bottom line
At $329 (was $429), the Apple Watch Series 5 is perfect for iPhone users (sorry, not compatible with Android smartphones) who want the benefits of notifications and quick info at a glance. “After many years refusing to spend money on an Apple Watch I went for it and I love it. No regrets at all,” shared a fan.
