Area businesses unite for Back to School Event at the Roxy Event Center

JOPLIN, Mo. — Over one thousand shoppers walked through the doors of the Roxy Event Center, all to help benefit local schools.

It was the first-ever back-to-school shopping event with over 55 small businesses coming together under one roof to sell their merchandise.

Permanent jewelry and school and game day apparel were just among the hundreds of items that were available today. Plus, there were activities to keep the children in attendance busy.

Of course, there were several food trucks on sight.

Owner of Erickson & Co. Mercantile says the event is a great way to help benefit the community and also small businesses.

“It makes us feel really good that we’re able to help so many and help our local schools make sure that all the kids, no matter who, are taken care of for the year, the togetherness, to see so many people coming, having a great time, smiling, getting stuff to get back into that transition of back to school and seeing so many small businesses come together for a great event,” said Skyler Erickson, Erickson & Co. Mercantile Owner.

Erickson says plans are already in the works for next year’s back-to-school shopping event.
