Ariana Grande Clarifies Her Cardi B Grammys Tweets
Ariana Grande skipped the Grammys tonight, but she was still watching the show and live tweeting her reaction throughout it. One candid reaction the world was not expecting? Grande's unfiltered thoughts on Cardi B winning the Best Rap Album Grammy. Grande tweeted and then immediately deleted four tweets about it. The first three said: "Trash," "Fuck," and "Literal bullshit." And the last, when Grande realized those tweets weren't a good idea, said, "Sry." Fans immediately took screenshots:
Grande clarified to a fan that she wasn't shading Cardi B with them. "Nothing to do w her," she wrote. "Good for her. I promise. I’m sorry."
She was just upset her late ex-boyfriend Mac Miller didn't win. His mother was at the Grammys tonight, and it was his last chance to win a Grammy for his music. Miller's album Swimming was nominated along with Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy, Nipsey Hussle's Victory Lap, Pusha T's Daytona, and Travis Scott's Astroworld.
Grande has been open about how deeply Miller's death has affected her. In her first written Instagram tribute after his death, she wrote about her disbelief. "I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will," she wrote. "I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. For so long. Above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest."
