Craft Beer and Brewing Magazine's Readers Choice Best in Beer 2023 awards have concluded with The Whale: A Craft Beer Collective and Burial Beer Co. among the honorees.
Craft Beer and Brewing Magazine conducted a Readers’ Choice Favorite Beer Cities survey with Asheville ranking at No. 4.
In 2022, Asheville was ranked No. 1 in the U.S. but dropped down in 2023 with Chicago, San Diego and Portland, Oregon, claiming the top three spots.
Burial Beer ranked No. 7 on the Readers’ Choice list of Favorite Breweries in the U.S. in the category of small production of fewer than 5,000 barrels per year. Burial has taprooms in Asheville’s South Slope brewing district and at Forestry Camp in Biltmore Village.
The Whale ranked No. 11 of the Best Beers Bars in the World, which encompasses its four locations in West Asheville and Haw Creek, as well as in Greenville and Charleston, South Carolina.
It’s The Whale’s first time making the list, which includes beer bars in U.S. cities including Chicago, Atlanta and Portland, Oregon, and international destinations such as Brussels, Belgium.
