Ashley Graham Lands Her First Vogue Cover
Curvy supermodel and body-positive activist Ashley Graham has yet to meet a boundary she can’t cross.
In February, Graham became the first plus-size model to land the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover. (“I’m insanely speechless. I cannot comprehend how I feel right now. This will go down in the books forever,” Graham commented at the time.) More recently, she landed a gig as the newest face of H&M, rocked a NYFW runway show in lingerie, made out with Joe Jonas, and was even immortalized as a Barbie doll — sans thigh-gap, of course. And now, she’s surfacing in high fashion.
The vivacious beauty will appear on the cover of the January 2017 issue of British Vogue, the publication officially announced this morning. And while it’s not the Anna Wintour-run American Vogue — yet! — it’s still pretty major.
Long-time Vogue collaborator Patrick Demarchelier photographed Graham for the issue on location in New York earlier this year, according to the announcement. Her January cover will be her second appearance in the magazine; she was featured first in the pages of the October 2014 issue of Miss Vogue (aka Teen Vogue for the United Kingdom). The cover, which styles Graham as “The Model with Attitude,” features the brunette with tousled, windblown hair wearing a black leather jacket adorned with chains, lace cutouts, and a heart-shaped Elvis patch.
Congratulations to the boundary-breaking beauty, who continues to prove that “curves come in 2s, 12s, and 22s.”
