The affordable beauty trend that absolutely took over the Oscars
Celebrities hit this year’s Oscars red carpet dressed in gorgeous gowns and glamorous hair and makeup — but there was one trend that stood out among the designer ensembles and flashy diamonds.
A-listers from Best Actress winner Olivia Colman to Serena Williams used affordable hair and makeup products to get ready for the award show. From Revlon’s new natural-finish foundation to TRESemmé’s top-rated hairspray, the best hair and makeup moments were courtesy of drugstore brands.
Here are the exact hair and makeup products celebrities used to achieve their red carpet look.
Olivia Colman
Best Actress winner Olivia Colman coiffed her wispy pixie using Suave Professionals products. Celebrity Stylist Marcus Francis washed her hair with the brand’s Coconut + Vanilla Repairing Shampoo and Conditioner ($3 each) and a dollop of Firm Control Boosting Mousse ($3) on damp hair before drying.
Amy Adams
Hairstylist John D. used TRESemmé TRES Two Extra Hold Mousse ($6) before blow-drying Adams’ hair. He then used a large curling iron to create waves and set it with a generous dose of TRES Two Unscented Extra Hold Hair Spray ($6).
Regina King
Regina King’s makeup artist Latrice Johnson accentuated the Best Supporting Actress winner’s eyes with KISS Lash Couture Naked Drama Collection in Tulle ($7).
Ashley Graham
For a natural makeup look, makeup artist Kate Synnott used Revlon PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish, Anti-Pollution Foundation ($10). She defined her eyes with a classic ColorStay Eyeliner ($4) in black and finished Graham’s look with a gorgeous shade of Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Audacious Mauve ($8).
Serena Williams
Celebrity hairstylist Nai’vasha Johnson amped up the sleek factor for Serena Williams’ ponytail using Dove Care Between Washes Re-Styling Milk ($5) before blow-drying it straight. Johnson added extensions for dramatic length and set the look with Style+Care Compressed Micro Mist Extra Hold Hairspray ($5).
Lucy Boynton
To achieve Boynton’s glamorous look, celebrity hairstylist Jenny Cho applied Suave Professionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Smooth & Shine Cream ($3) to damp hair. Cho used 1-inch rollers to get the perfect curl pattern and spritzed Firm Control Finishing Hairspray ($3) to lock in the style.
