Ashley Graham shows off newborn son in video, shares the story of his home birth
Meet Ashley Graham’s baby boy.
On her latest episode of Pretty Big Deal, the supermodel and her husband Justin Ervin introduced their son, who was born Jan. 18. They also revealed his name for the first time: Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin.
The new parents sweetly detailed the baby’s home birth. She talked about how despite contractions, she still went out to breakfast and to a yoga class. At yoga, her water broke — and her natural delivery was on from there.
Graham shed tears recalling the powerful experience — and recalled holding the baby for the first time with Ervin by her side and saying, “We’re a family forever now.”
Graham was especially proud of herself for the natural birth, saying, “I feel like there's nothing I can't do. There's nothing that could come way where I say, ‘Oh, that's too hard I can't handle that.' I went through laboring for six hours, naturally. At home."
As for his big name — Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin — Ervin said, "So, everything in his name is pointing to legacy. Whether it's Isaac with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Menelik, being you know, royal African roots." He went on to talk about Giovanni being the Italian version of John. John was suggested by a friend and the pair connected to it because they both had grandparents named John — and it had a religious connection, so they used the Italian version.
As for the baby’s personality, Ervin described him as “calm.” Graham spoke about bonding with him during feedings and talked also the sweet little faces he makes. She said Ervin is a super dad and great with everything, including diapers and skin-to-skin. She’s still on cloud nine — and not even exhausted by night feedings.
The night before the podcast dropped, Graham shared photos of the parents holding the baby’s hand teasing the very special episode.
