Fact: Being at home makes you crave all things comfy. Whether it’s that one pair of leggings you throw on when you’re just lounging around the house, that sweatshirt that you can spend days in or those slippers that feel like a hug, the past few weeks have us digging out our softest, plushest goodies and refusing to wear anything else. Jeans? A distant memory.
When it’s finally safe for us to go back to business as usual, we’ll miss our cozy clothes and footwear. But who says we have to sacrifice comfort for versatility? In fact, we found a pair of sneakers that are just as (if not more) comfortable than the slippers you’ve had on for weeks — and they’re even podiatrist-approved.
The Asics Tiger Runner sneakers—which are on sale for $53 (was $65)—are the perfect marriage of comfort and style. The rubber outsole provides traction, while the soft cushioned footbed feels like a cloud. The collar and tongue are both lightly padded, so they won’t rub. The upper part of the shoe is made of a durable mix of mesh and suede, so they’ll stay sturdy (and won’t crease like leather does from extended wear).
Board-certified podiatrist Sarah Abshier told Yahoo Lifestyle that Asics tend to have more space in the forefoot area, so if you love take long walks, they’ll give you the relief and support you need.
Board-certified foot surgeon Alec Hochstein agreed, saying: “I am an Asics guy. Love the structure, high-quality materials, supportive footbed, breathable fabrics.”
In fact, the Tiger Runners are a great way to dip your toe in the athleisure trend without getting too fussy. The chunky sole lends both comfort and style; plus, as one shopper put it, “The fit is amazing! Very cute for a nice casual day or night out!”
Another shopper pointed out a hidden perk of the retro-style sneaker: “I have big (size 10) feet and these make my feet look small,” she writes. “Love the color and retro style.”
Board-certified podiatrist Ernest L. Isaacson raves about the sneakers as well: “The most popular running shoe and good for walking too,” he shared with Yahoo Lifestyle. “Good support and selection.”
Plus, for just $53—originally $65—you couldn’t dream of a better deal.
