Authorities Shed Light on Life-Saving Attempts for Matthew Perry

Authorities have provided further insight into the details of how they attempted to save Matthew Perry's life, before ultimately determining that he had already passed, on Saturday, Oct. 28.
In a statement shared by the Los Angeles Fire Department two days after the occurrence, details surrounding the circumstances were addressed, as it was confirmed officials found an "adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub" after responding to an emergency call.
"A bystander had brought the man's head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival," Captain Erik Scott from the LAFD told E! News in an Oct. 30 statement. "A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival."
It was initially reported that the Friends star died of an apparent drowning at his home, however, Scott noted that Perry's death is currently under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner.
According to an additional report released by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, per the outlet, Perry's cause of death has now been deferred, as autopsy results are inconclusive, pending a toxicology report. Official details regarding his cause of death are expected to be revealed within the next few weeks.

Perry's rep and a law enforcement source previously confirmed that the actor passed away on Oct. 28 at the age of 54.
After the disheartening news of the Emmy nominee's sudden death, friends and fans of the star have paid tribute to the actor with sweet words and shared memories, including his group of colleagues from the iconic sitcom.
"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother," said Perry's family in a statement. "Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love."
