Baby2Baby Hosts its Seventh Annual Gala Despite Tragic Wildfires
In the wake of a devastating week for Los Angeles-between the Woolsey fires and the shooting in Thousand Oaks-not even the ash-filled air could keep the Los Angeles celebrity and philanthropic community from coming out to support nonprofit Baby2Baby at their annual gala, held at 3Labs in Culver City. Baby2Baby founders and co-presidents Kelly Sawyer-Patricof and Norah Weinstein welcomed a star-studded crowd to the event, including board members and gala chairs Jessica Alba and Kelly Rowland. “Tonight, with these devastating fires right here in our hometown, it’s more important than ever to support the work of Baby2Baby,” said Rowland, in addressing the attendees.
While the fires and resulting devastation were clearly on the minds of all in attendance, this year’s Baby2Baby Gala, led by title sponsor Paul Mitchell, raised a record $4.3 million dollars for the organization, which provides diapers, clothing, and other basic necessities to low-income children in need. Amy Adams was honored with the organization’s Giving Tree Award. In accepting her award, Adams noted that Baby2Baby was working overtime to help families who have been displaced by the fires. “I’d like to take a moment to send my thoughts to those affected by the fire. It’s such a reminder of the importance of an organization like Baby2Baby, who has already provided essentials to evacuation shelters for children in need,” Adams told the celebrity-filled crowd.
Town & Country's contributing editor Erica Wertheim Zohar attended the event; others included Katy Perry, Kobe Bryant, Zooey Deschanel, Anastasia Soare, Olivia Culpo, Jennifer Garner, Jenna Dewan, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, Ali Wong, Rachel Zoe, Sterling K. Brown, Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow, Olivia Munn, Jordana Brewster, Ryan Tedder, Sam Worthington, Rachel Bilson, Kat Dennings, Ayesha Curry, Johnny Knoxville, Lauren Conrad, Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent, Sara Foster, all pledging to donate to the organization, which has provided over 6.4 million basic essentials to children affected by natural disasters and emergency situations.
