The Bachelorette Season 14 Revealed After Dramatic ‘Bachelor’ Finale
After all that, meet your new Bachelorette, America! Becca Kufrin, the initial winner of Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of The Bachelor, who was unceremoniously dumped on national television in an incredibly awkward, unedited sequence, is—yes—the next Bachelorette.
ABC made the announcement following the season 22 finale and during the After the Final Rose special on Tuesday, March 6. Fans and franchise alums collectively rejoiced as the news was announced shortly after Luyendyk proposed to his runner-up Lauren Burnham during the broadcast.
Franchise viewers collectively cringed on Monday as Luyendyk made the painful admission about 6 to 8 weeks after proposing to the Minneapolis-based publicist in Peru in favor of Lauren B. The worst part about the split was that the race car driver chose to call it off in front of cameras.
“There was a better and more tactful way to do it,” Kufrin subsequently told People magazine. “A breakup is hard enough, and to have it all filmed and have to re-watch it and know that people all across the country are watching you get your heart broken, it is embarrassing. It’s not fun. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. It was like a slap in the face.”

However, from the ashes of the situation, producers set Kufrin up for the lead role as the season 14 Bachelorette following her predecessor Rachel Lindsay. Now, the new lead will have to emotionally prepare herself for a potential proposal—yet again.
“He did get down on one knee, he did propose to me, he did say, ‘I’m committing to you, I choose you every day,’” she said Monday. “That’s something that I only wanted to happen once in my life, and it’s been robbed from me, and I can never have that one time moment again. And the second part is that he lied or hid his true feelings and emotions for weeks and weeks and weeks. The number one thing that I value in a relationship is honesty and loyalty, and I feel like I wasn’t given that.”
