This Backyard Studio Is Just What You Need for Some Alone Time
In 2019, the most coveted commodity might just be a little bit of personal space.
At least that’s what the makers of EscapeSpace, an enclosed portable room you can put just about anywhere, are counting on.
EscapeSpace is an even more minimal take on the tiny home trend. Each “shed” is pretty much open plan, meant to be customized to the owner’s liking.
For the fitness buff, the 12” to 16” room could be a cool backyard gym. For creatives, a writing or art studio in the mountains or beachside. For entrepreneurs, a home office that’s delightfully removed from the hustle and bustle of family life or roommates. For gamers or sports lovers, the man cave of their dreams. You get the idea.
There are three models, each boasting a sleek, modern design that won’t be an eyesore in the backyard. Pricing starts at $11,900 for a studio.
The “Studio” features a sustainable wood exterior with a custom stain and a sliding six foot patio door for an open, light-filled look. The “Ma,” Japanese for “space,” takes the Zen feel one step further with an entire wall of windows, perfect for showcasing a natural, outdoor location.
The “Classic” looks the most like a tiny home and could be one with the right customization. It has the option of a deck and lighting, plus any of the models can be equipped with power and water.
You won’t build it yourself, but you can still make it uniquely you, via solar panels, insulation for cold temps or even fully-equipped interiors with beds, desks, and other living options.
Or you could just have the most tricked-out shed for your tools in the entire neighborhood. Your pick. Because even if you’re not living in your dream home (yet), there’s always a dream shed waiting for you.
