The Bagel Nook, known for 'Overload' bagels, to open in Aberdeen
Bagel fans in Aberdeen, prepare to be Overloaded.
The Bagel Nook, known for its "Overload" bagels stuffed with everything from Oreo and cookie dough cream cheeses to crumb cake and brownies, is opening a fourth New Jersey store in Aberdeen Town Square Center.
The bagel shop joins Denino's Pizza Place and Livoti's Old World Market in the Route 34 shopping plaza. An opening date has not yet been announced.
Alex Berkowitz and his father, David Berkowitz, opened their first Bagel Nook in 2015 in Freehold Township. Others followed in Princeton and Las Vegas, and a second Freehold Township store opened last year.

Traditionalists can get sesame, egg or everything bagels with plain cream cheese at the bagel shops, but The Bagel Nook is known for its flavors. Alex and David started out making small-batch cream cheeses in flavors like birthday cake, cotton candy, s'mores, maple bacon, olive, and jalapeno cheddar before adding more adventurous varieties including cool ranch, coffee, ghost pepper, cannoli, and peanut butter swirl.
"Right from the beginning we wanted to do something different, something crazy," David told the Asbury Park Press in a previous interview. "After the cream cheese, we had to do something more crazy."

They started coating bagels in crushed cereal — Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs, Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Captain Crunch — and made a bagel with Oreos baked inside. Then came the item that led to attention from "Live! With Kelly," the Travel Channel and other media nationwide: the Oreo Overload, made with Oreo cream cheese on the Oreo bagel, stuffed with more Oreos.
"We're always looking to outdo ourselves, to challenge ourselves," Alex said.
