Winter is sort of the official season of Baileys. (No shade, mudslides.) It's perfect for slipping into hot cocoa or coffee, and it's creamy mocha flavor gives us major holiday vibes. For all these reasons and more, we decided to make cupcakes as an homage to our favorite Irish cream whiskey.

These lil guys get the extra boozy treatment with Baileys making its way into the batter and the frosting. Don't ask me how, but cake mix + eggs + veggie oil + Baileys = perfectly moist, rich chocolate cupcakes.

As for the frosting, it's one of my all time favorites. The base is our favorite buttercream recipe, which in my opinion, is the absolute best. The addition of Baileys makes it particularly irresistible, resulting in everyone in the test kitchen eating it by the fingerful any chance we had. It's so good it even tempted vegan members of the staff. Yes, it really is that good.

When your cupcakes are cooled and your frosting is made (hey! Get your finger out of there!) all that's left is piping on the frosting and garnishing. We chose a drizzle of chocolate sauce and a dusting of chocolate shavings, but really, these guys are perfect on their own.
