Balenciaga Unveils 'Affordable' Line of Mugs, Eye Masks, and More
From the designer who brought you the $2,145 Ikea look-alike tote — Balenciaga has unveiled a series of new exclusive branded merch including an eye mask, mug, and travel pillow in celebration of their partnership with high-end Parisian retail concept store Colette.
These small Balenciaga logo goods affordably start at about $23 for the eye mask, and $40 for the travel pillow. Although these particular items are currently sold out online, you can shop them in-store at Colette if you are planning to be in Paris between now and Aug. 5. For the majority of us who will sadly not be in Paris, you can sign up via email to be notified when the branded items are back in stock on the web.
The limited-run Balenciaga and Colette collaboration seeks to create an immersive shopping experience for those visiting the store; a venue which is also home to a “water bar” (featuring more than 100 brands of bottled water), a bookshop, and an exhibition space. Brands typically use Colette as an opportunity to do high-concept pop-up work, and the Balenciaga takeover is no exception. To make the in-store experience as interactive as possible, Balenciaga and Colette will feature what they’re calling a “copy center” where customers will be able to customize white t-shirts and hoodies with select graphic overlays. The DIY project is limited to only 900 pieces and available only until July 10.
Crafts and shopping are not the only things that will be happening in the Paris store, immersive art will be on display as well. A sculpture by the German-Norwegian artist Yngve Holen, titled ‘Cake’ — which is a Porsche Panamera sliced into four pieces — is being featured in the venue. Guests will view the piece in a space filled with an aromatic special “car interior” scent, designed specifically for the collaborative space.
Another feature of the take-over will be an in-store nail art event, where Balenciaga fans can have their nails done in the same style as worn by models in past Balenciaga men and women collections — as designed esteemed by nail artist, Mei Kawajiri. The nail art event will be a service free to all visitors at Colette between July 2-July 6.
The Balenciaga take-over runs through August 5 and it is part of a multi-tier series which will see further luxury brands like — including Chanel, Sacai, Thom Browne, and Saint Laurent — taking over the shop.
