Bamburgh Castle's three-bedroom apartment lets you live like royalty for less

Looking to feel like royalty on your next getaway?

Savills is currently offering an apartment for rent in the historic Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland, England.

As the royal seat of Northumbria’s kings, the castle, which spans some nine acres of land across the county’s coastline, is one of the largest inhabited castles in England.

We have good news for those who want an inside look at what’s it like to live on the property: A spacious apartment is available for rent in the Keep, which is the oldest surviving structure of the castle.

Built during the 12th century, the Keep still has its original 11-foot-thick and 9-foot-wide walls. Once you enter the bottle-shaped doorway, which was used to allow soldiers riding on horseback to enter, you’ll reach your apartment.

In the main hallway, you’ll see a mahogany staircase that leads to the first floor, while arched stone windows give you views overlooking the castle.

On the first floor, you’ll find a private bedroom suite with its own bathroom and windows that provide magnificent views of the sea, while a living room on the second floor includes views over chapel ruins and the Farne Islands.

There’s also a cast fireplace and a kitchen breakfast room, while other bedrooms throughout the space treat you to inland views and historic ramparts.

Also within the Keep, you’ll find an impressive array of arms and armor that date back hundreds of years.

The apartment is available for a monthly cost of 1,200 British pounds (roughly $1,556).
